These essential insurance policies are the foundation of your insurance protection, and protect you against catastrophic judgements, but they do not provide clients with an immediate, simple solution to the distress and discomfort of complications or injury from a service or treatment.
Worse, they are not designed to protect your relationship with the client or your reputation. They protect you, but are designed to pit you against your client. CoverWell enables your business, the practitioner, and the client to remain on the "same side of the table". The care provided by CoverWell, up to $125,000, will help reduce the likelihood of costly lawsuits and reputational damage.
Clients are made aware of the risks inherent to procedures when they sign their informed consent before a service. Now they'll know you are ensuring their well-being in the unlikely event of complications. CoverWell is being provided by businesses that care about client's safety and wellbeing. If an adverse even occures, clients will have the piece of mind in knowing they have financing support that will allow them to immediately receive the healthcare support they need to recover.
Clients are unaware of how professional liability and malpractice insurance work. They do not realize that to access care or treatment for an injury or complication--and have it paid for--they have to hire an attorney, sue your business, and wait an average of two years for compensation.
Complications must be diagnosed in a timely manner by an independent physician--not one who performed the service or owns the business where the treatment took place.

CoverWell will pay up to $125,000 toward the patient's medical expenses, including physical and mental health care.

No. CoverWell is specifically designed to cover the cost of medical treatment for complications that have been diagnosed by a physician (e.g. treatment by a dermatologist for skin inflammation, etc.). This includes mental health care in the event of a traumatic experience. Your business is still responsible for obtaining informed consent, screening for potential contraindications, and meeting patient and patient expectations with expert treatments within the provider's scope of practice.
CoverWell enables medical professionals to refer an injured patient to a trusted medical provider without fear of violating patient brokering laws. Because CoverWell will ultimately pay for approved medical treatment required for a complication, the referral does not involve any money or benefit to the physician. The patient will enjoy peace of mind knowing they are going to a highly recommended physician.
CoverWell does cover sculpting procedures (along with any other treatments that fall within our list of covered services) for the first 30 days after the procedure. Typically, most practices see patients on a monthly basis for treatments—whether it’s another sculpting session, injection, laser treatment, etc. Each time a new treatment is purchased, a new CoverWell plan is automatically included.
As long as CoverWell was purchased for a service within 30 days of a complication arising from one of the covered treatments, the patient remains protected. For example, if a patient receives Sculptra on January 2nd and returns for Botox on February 3rd, and then experiences a complication from the Sculptra on February 20th, the CoverWell plan purchased with the Botox treatment would cover the complication.
However, if a patient undergoes Sculptra but does not return for another procedure within 30 days, and a complication arises on the 45th day, this would not be covered—unless they had activated a new 30-day CoverWell protection plan with another treatment.
